Privacy policy

株式会社殼空間 (“we,” “us” or “the Company”) sets out this Privacy Policy for the handling of users’ personal information in connection with the services provided on this website (the “Service”).

1. Personal Information

“Personal information” has the meaning given in Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information. It includes information about a living individual that can identify that person through a name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact details or other descriptions. It also includes data that can identify an individual on its own, such as facial features, fingerprints, voiceprints and health insurance identification numbers.

2. How We Collect Personal Information

When you register, we may ask for personal information such as your name, date of birth, address, telephone number, email address, bank account number, credit card number or driver’s license number. We may also obtain transaction records and payment information containing your personal information from our partners, including information providers, advertisers and advertising distribution partners.

3. Purposes of Collection and Use

We collect and use personal information to:

  • Provide and operate our services.
  • Respond to inquiries, including verifying your identity.
  • Email you about new features, updates and promotions for services you use, and about other services we provide.
  • Send necessary communications, such as maintenance and important notices.
  • Identify users who breach our terms or attempt to use our services for fraudulent or improper purposes, and refuse their use of the Service.
  • Allow you to view, update or delete your registration details and view your usage history.
  • Charge fees for paid services.
  • Carry out purposes incidental to those listed above.

4. Changes to the Purposes of Use

We will change the purposes of use only where the new purpose can reasonably be considered related to the original purpose. We will notify users through a method we specify or publish the revised purposes on this website.

5. Disclosure to Third Parties

Except where permitted by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws, we will not provide personal information to a third party without your prior consent, unless:

  1. Disclosure is necessary to protect a person’s life, body or property, and obtaining consent is difficult.
  2. Disclosure is particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the healthy development of children, and obtaining consent is difficult.
  3. Cooperation is required with a national or local government authority, or its contractor, in performing duties prescribed by law, and obtaining consent may interfere with those duties.
  4. We have notified users or publicly announced the following matters in advance and filed the required notification with Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission: that provision to third parties is a purpose of use; the data items to be provided; the means or method of provision; that provision will stop at the individual’s request; and how such requests are accepted.

The following recipients are not considered third parties for this purpose:

  • A contractor entrusted with all or part of the handling of personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of use.
  • A recipient in connection with a business succession, such as a merger.
  • A joint user, where we have notified the individual in advance or made readily accessible the fact of joint use, the data items involved, the scope of joint users, their purposes of use and the name of the party responsible for managing the information.

6. Access to Personal Information

When an individual requests disclosure of their personal information, we will disclose it without delay. We may withhold all or part of the information if disclosure could harm the life, body, property or other rights or interests of the individual or a third party; significantly interfere with the proper conduct of our business; or violate the law. If we decide not to disclose information, we will notify the individual without delay. A fee of ¥1,000 applies to each disclosure request.

As a rule, we do not disclose information that is not personal information, such as history or attribute information.

7. Correction and Deletion

If personal information we hold about you is incorrect, you may request its correction, addition or deletion through our prescribed procedure. If we determine that the request should be granted, we will make the correction or deletion without delay. We will notify you without delay whether we have made the change or decided not to do so.

8. Suspension of Use and Erasure

If an individual requests that we stop using or erase personal information because it is being used beyond the stated purposes or was obtained improperly, we will promptly conduct the necessary investigation. If we determine that the request should be granted, we will stop using or erase the information without delay. We will notify the individual without delay of our action or our decision not to act.

If stopping use or erasing the information would involve substantial expense or is otherwise difficult, we will take an alternative measure where one is available that is necessary to protect the user’s rights and interests.

9. Changes to This Policy

Except where laws or this Policy provide otherwise, we may change this Policy without notifying users. Unless we specify otherwise, the revised Policy takes effect when published on this website.
